Last night, the Milford Schools Board of Education unanimously voted to accept the six-figure, multi-year donation made to Milford Schools by Milford alumnus Erik Zamudio. Zamudio is a 2010 graduate of Milford Schools and a successful entrepreneur named to the 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 list, among other awards in the marketing and technology fields.

Zamudio’s generous donation will fund annual improvements to the auditorium following its renovation next year. The theater will be called “The Zamudio Theatre”, informally known as, “The Z”. Zamudio’s gift is believed to be the largest personal donation ever made to Milford Schools.

In addition to the auditorium, Zamudio has funded a Memorial Scholarship at Milford High School in honor of his brother, Aaron Zamudio, since 2019. In 2020, he was recognized by the Milford Schools Foundation as a Distinguished Alumni.

Board President Dave Meranda said, “We are incredibly grateful for Mr. Zamudio’s gift to Milford Schools. This level of personal giving is unprecedented and his willingness to give back to the community in which he was raised, and specifically to the schools which served as his academic springboard, is generous and appreciated.”

Superintendent John Spieser agreed, saying, “It is especially meaningful when alumni return home and share a part of themselves with their alma mater. This is a particularly heartfelt gift and we are looking forward to opening the renovated auditorium in early 2024 with the confidence that we can continue to maintain and improve the theater in the decade ahead. Milford students, families, and our community will enjoy many wonderful productions and concerts in The Z.”

Zamudio shared his enthusiasm by saying, “I think it’s every kid’s dream to come back to their hometown and do this. I’m just thankful for the opportunity to make an impact on current and future students and I can’t wait to see the upcoming shows at the theater.”
