Milford's Three National Merit Finalists

PROUD MILFORD MOMENT! Milford High School Seniors Blake Marcin, Vishnu Rajkumar, and Emma Strickland have been named NATIONAL MERIT FINALISTS!
 
"I am extremely proud of Blake, Vishnu, and Emma," said MHS Principal Josh Kauffman. "Their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to growing intellectually during their time at Milford High School is exceptional and I am eager to see the incredible things they accomplish after graduation."

More info about The National Merit Scholarship program: the mission of the program is the promote scholastic excellence through a very rigorous competition. Scholarship winners are chosen based on their abilities, skills, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in college and beyond. To qualify, students first take the PSAT their Junior year. Of the 1.5 million students who enter the scholarship program, about 50,000 earn PSAT scores high enough to qualify for Semifinalist recognition. Semifinalists are the highest scoring entrants in each state. Qualifying scores vary from state to state and from year to year, but the scores of all Semifinalists are extremely high. Semifinalist  then advance to Finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards and by fulfilling the requirements of the application. Approximately 15,000 of the Semifinalists move on to Finalists. Finalist then compete for scholarships which are awarded by the National Merit Program itself and also by corporations, business, and colleges.
