How We Communicate

Milford Schools regularly communicates with families to provide important information and updates. Communication takes place at every level of the District, from individual classrooms and teachers to school buildings and the District office.

Families receive school newsletters throughout the year, as well as the District’s quarterly newsletter. In addition to these regular communications, Milford Schools sends updates as needed regarding important or time-sensitive information.

Receiving District Communications

Milford Schools uses several email-based platforms to communicate with families, including Apptegy, our website platform, SchoolMessenger and FinalForms. Depending on the message, communications may come from different systems or email addresses.

To help ensure you receive all District and school communications:

  • Provide accurate phone numbers and email addresses when completing your student’s back-to-school forms.

  • Review and update your contact information whenever it changes.

  • Check your inbox and spam or junk folders for messages from @schoolmessenger.com and @milfordschools.org.

  • Make sure District email addresses and communication platforms are not blocked by your email provider.

If you are having trouble receiving communications, please check your spam or junk folder, contact your building principal or email contactmilford@milfordschools.org.

Emergency and Crisis Communications

To provide a safe and supportive learning environment, each Milford school works collaboratively with emergency responders to develop a school safety plan. These plans are reviewed annually by Ohio Homeland Security and establish threat-response protocols, including how building administrators and emergency personnel will respond to potential threats.

Communication is especially important during an emergency or crisis. Milford Schools recognizes the need to provide families with accurate and timely information while protecting the safety of students, staff and emergency responders.

If an emergency occurs, the District will communicate important information and instructions using the most appropriate communication channels. Once the immediate situation has been properly addressed and information has been confirmed, we will provide families with all relevant details through our direct messaging system.

During an emergency:

  • Please rely on official Milford Schools communications for verified information and instructions.

  • Avoid sharing rumors, speculation or unconfirmed information, which can create additional safety risks.

  • Do not come to the school or attempt to pick up your child until the District provides instructions.

  • Ensure your contact information is current so you can receive emergency notifications.

In every situation, the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. For more on student safety please visit: https://www.milfordschools.org/page/school-safety
