Help Shape the Future of Milford Schools
Milford Schools is refreshing its strategic plan, and we want our community to help shape what comes next.
Throughout the 2026–2027 school year, district leaders will gather community input and district data to identify priorities for the years ahead. The refreshed plan will guide the future of Milford Schools and build upon our Portrait of an Eagle.
Milford Schools Wants to Hear From You!
Milford Schools will be refreshing its Strategic Plan throughout the 2026–2027 school year, with several opportunities for families, staff, students and community members to get involved.
Additional details will be shared throughout the year, including a short 5–10 minute survey where you can tell us what is working well and what you hope to see in Milford Schools’ future. Your feedback will help district leaders better understand our community’s priorities and identify opportunities as we plan for the future.
Additional opportunities to share your input, including in-person events, will be announced as dates and details are finalized.
Building Upon Our Portrait of an Eagle
The Portrait of an Eagle is the roadmap the Milford learning community uses to drive our work districtwide. It reflects our commitment to developing empathetic lifelong learners.
With the support of our staff, students build the skills described below. Our strategic plan refresh will explore how we can strengthen the experiences and support that help every Eagle excel.
Confident Learners

All students will demonstrate a baseline understanding of knowledge in core areas of study, capable of transferring learning to all situations by 2025.
Students develop a strong foundation of knowledge and learn to apply it in new situations. Our staff provide meaningful challenges, support and feedback that help students recognize their progress and take ownership of their learning. These experiences build the confidence to ask questions, try unfamiliar tasks and continue learning beyond the classroom.
Effective Communicators

Every student will effectively communicate their learning confidently, creatively, and purposefully.
Students learn to communicate clearly through speaking, writing and other forms of expression. Our staff help students build confidence in sharing their ideas, listening thoughtfully and understanding different perspectives. These skills prepare students to connect with others and communicate effectively in school, the workplace and everyday life.
Purposeful Collaborators

All PreK-12 students will build a core set of skills to evaluate information critically.
Students learn to contribute to a team, respect different perspectives and take responsibility for their role. Our staff create opportunities for students to solve problems together, navigate disagreements and learn from one another. Through these experiences, students develop the flexibility and cooperation needed to succeed alongside others.
Critical Thinkers

All Milford students will be immersed in real-life learning situations that develop their independent thinking curiosity and decision-making ability.
Students learn to look beyond an immediate answer and consider why and how things work. Our staff encourage students to examine evidence, question assumptions and consider different approaches. Students strengthen their ability to solve problems, explain their reasoning and reflect on what they have learned.
Information Evaluators

All PreK-12 students will build a core set of skills to evaluate information critically.
Students learn to evaluate the information they encounter in print, online and through other media. Our staff help students assess sources, recognize bias and distinguish supported claims from opinions. Students also learn to use technology responsibly and apply information to make sound decisions.
Purposeful Persistent Creators & Innovators

All students will view failure, mistakes, and errors as opportunities to create and innovate again.
Students learn to turn curiosity into original ideas and meaningful solutions. Our staff provide opportunities to design, experiment and improve their work through feedback. By learning from setbacks and trying new approaches, students develop the persistence and confidence to create something new.
