Homelessness & McKinney-Vento Services

Milford Schools is committed to supporting students and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or displacement. Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, eligible students have rights and protections that help ensure uninterrupted access to education and school services.

If your family is living in a temporary housing situation, sharing housing due to economic hardship, staying in a shelter, motel, vehicle, campground, or other temporary arrangement, you may qualify for support and services.

You and Your Children May Qualify for Support if You Are Living:

  • In a shelter or transitional housing program.

  • In a motel, hotel, or campground because you do not have another safe, stable place to stay.

  • In a car, park, public space, abandoned building, bus station, train station, or another place not intended for regular housing.

  • Temporarily with friends or family because you have lost your housing or are experiencing financial hardship.
