The Milford Board of Education met on Thursday, February 19, 2026, to recognize student leadership and community partnerships, share district updates, and conduct regular district business.

Boyd E. Smith Featured Artists

The meeting opened with recognition of Boyd E. Smith Elementary student artists, whose artwork was displayed during the meeting. Students across grade levels were celebrated for their creativity, with appreciation shared for the staff who continue to build a strong culture of the arts at Boyd E. Smith.

Afterwards a group of Boyd E. Smith students delivered a presentation on the school’s new Eagle Leadership League, tied to this year’s building theme of camping and the idea of “being our best at camp.”

Students explained how the leadership program has expanded into three groups:

  • Soar Squad, supporting students with special needs through reading, math practice, and participation in activities alongside peers

  • Flight Force, helping younger students during dismissal to ensure safety, calm routines, and problem-solving support

  • Eagle Experts, helping lead school activities, video announcements, and service projects

Students also shared examples of leadership in action, including service projects and a neighborhood outreach effort where students created thank-you cards for neighbors to show appreciation during busy arrival and dismissal times.

Boyd E Smith students even assisted families at Impacting Tomorrow, helping families in need shop for groceries at no cost.
