The safety and well-being of Milford Schools students and staff is our highest priority. To strengthen safety and emergency response efforts, CENTEGIX CrisisAlert™ has been installed throughout all District buildings.

The system provides teachers and staff members with wearable badges that allow them to request assistance with the push of a button. Alerts provide responders with precise location information, helping them react quickly and efficiently during medical emergencies, safety concerns or other urgent situations.

School and District administrators can also activate alerts remotely through a mobile or desktop application. This capability may be used for situations such as severe weather, nearby threats or emergencies affecting an individual school or the entire District.

Students and staff will practice the District’s emergency procedures several times throughout the school year so everyone understands how to respond when an alert is activated.

Milford Exempted Village Schools conducts emergency safety drills throughout the year as required by the State of Ohio. These include Emergency Evacuation Drills, tornado drills, and school safety drills.

Emergency Evacuation Drills are conducted throughout the school year, including one within the first 10 days of school. Tornado drills are conducted monthly during tornado season, from April through July, and school safety drills are conducted annually to practice procedures for situations that require students and staff to be secured inside the building.

Milford Exempted Village Schools provides age-appropriate safety instruction for emergency situations, including the Run, Hide, Fight response model. This nationally recognized approach helps students and staff understand different options that may be used in the unlikely event of an active threat or dangerous situation.

Run, Hide, Fight teaches individuals to first look for a safe way to leave the area if possible, hide and stay out of sight if evacuation is not safe, and, as a last resort, take action to protect themselves. These procedures are reviewed in a thoughtful and developmentally appropriate way to help ensure students and staff are prepared while maintaining a safe and supportive school environment. These procedures may look different in our elementary school buildings to ensure instruction is age-appropriate for younger students. Please contact your building principal with any questions.

All visitors to Milford Exempted Village Schools must enter through the front office and complete the visitor management process before accessing the building. Milford Schools uses Raptor checks to help screen and document visitors entering our schools. When a visitor arrives, staff will typically scan their driver’s license or ID through the Raptor Visitor Management System. This process helps strengthen building security by verifying visitor information and supporting staff in maintaining a safe environment for students and staff.
