For Milford High School junior Michael Yanzito, poetry became a way to say what he could not.
After the loss of his father, Michael turned to writing to process what words often could not express out loud. His poem, “The Mask of a Mourning Son,” earned first place in the high school division of the 2026 Paul Laurence Dunbar Poetry Contest, capturing the reality of grief behind the face we show the world.
As the anniversary of his father’s passing and his father’s birthday approach, this recognition takes on even greater meaning. Michael dedicated this poem to his father, but it also gave him something he had not been able to find before: a way to be heard.

Grant attended last night’s Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition awards ceremony in Columbus, where his photograph Madden was recognized among the best student artwork in the state.
Out of nearly 5,800 submissions, only 275 works were selected, and just 20 from Southwest Ohio. Grant’s work is one of them!

Last Friday, McCormick students wowed us at their Talent Show with singing, dance choreography, and even some rock-out drumming! These students sure know how to shine!
It was a packed jungle at Seipelt today! 🌿🐾
Our 3rd grade students brought their learning to life during their Animal Habitat showcase, sharing their animal research reports and presenting the incredible dioramas they created in class. Students also got into the spirit by dressing like animal caretakers and zoo workers, making the experience even more engaging and fun.
Thank you to all the families who stopped by to explore these amazing projects. We loved seeing our students so proud of their hard work!

Last year, Milford student Grayson Hardoerfer was selected as one of now 21 high school students across Ohio to serve on the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council.
Recently, Grayson and fellow council members met in Columbus to review applications for youth-led mental health and suicide prevention initiatives. Together, they selected 10 projects to receive nearly $10,000 in grant funding, supporting efforts like therapy dog programs and peer-led wellness fairs in schools and communities across the state.
We’re proud to see Grayson representing Milford and making an impact beyond our district!

Mrs. Pangallo’s class took their learning outdoors while exploring the Mississippian culture and the journey of Hernando de Soto. No river nearby, but plenty of fresh air to bring the lesson to life!

Mr. Underwood’s AP Chemistry students took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to Northern Kentucky University for a hands-on lab experience.
Using real college-level equipment in a university setting gave students a chance to level up their skills and get a glimpse of what’s ahead after high school. Experiences like this don’t just bring chemistry to life, they help students start picturing themselves on a college campus and in their future careers. 🧪

Reading together not only builds important literacy skills, but also helps students develop confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. It’s been a great way to connect with students and highlight the importance of reading each and every day.

But there’s a catch… they had to spell it out instead of saying it, or those tricky leprechauns might hear them and scurry away!
We’re crossing our fingers that their creative designs and careful spelling paid off, because you never know what a little luck and a lot of imagination can bring!

Students enrolled in Honors Anatomy & Physiology and AP Biology had the unique opportunity this morning to witness a live surgical procedure streamed directly into the classroom. During the seminar, students observed expert surgeons perform an orbitozygomatic craniotomy for the resection of a craniopharyngioma, a highly specialized procedure used to remove a tumor from the brain.
The session also included a live Q&A component with the surgical team, giving students the opportunity to hear directly from the medical professionals performing the procedure.
Experiences like this help bring classroom learning to life by showing students how biology and anatomy translate into real-world medical practice.

On Thursday, March 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Eagles Way and State Route 131 will be closed for a water main tie-in.
During the closure, access to campus will be limited to the Wolfpen Road entrances.

Tomorrow, March 6, is a Teacher Work Day, which means no school for students while our staff spends the day planning and preparing for the weeks ahead.

Congratulations to Genevieve L. from Milford Middle School for advancing to the WCPO 9 Regional Spelling Bee – Greater Cincinnati Region 2!
Genevieve scored high enough on the regional qualifying test to earn an invitation to compete on Saturday, March 7, 2026. She will take part in traditional oral spelling rounds, with the opportunity to continue on to the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.!

Last week, Milford High School hosted its annual Scheduling Fair, welcoming students and families to explore course options for the upcoming school year. Students had the opportunity to explore pathways and opportunities such as choir, Tech Squad, HOSA, publications, and more while connecting directly with teachers, staff and even other students in the program!
Incoming freshmen and their parents also attended a presentation about the Ninth Grade Community, learning what to expect and how we support students during their first year of high school.
