Milford Exempted Village School District has announced that All-Day Kindergarten tuition for the 2026–2027 school year will be reduced to $3,600 following review and discussion by the District Leadership Team and the Milford Board of Education.
After the failure of the 1 percent Earned Income Tax levy in November 2024, the district adjusted several financial structures for the 2025–2026 school year, including increasing All-Day Kindergarten tuition to $5,000. During this enrollment cycle, district leaders closely monitored participation trends and later observed a noticeable decline in kindergarten enrollment.
A deeper analysis of enrollment data showed that a significant number of families chose private and parochial schools, many of which participate in state-funded voucher programs. With voucher support applied, tuition at some of those schools became comparable to, and in some cases lower than, Milford’s All-Day Kindergarten tuition.
In response, Milford Schools carefully reviewed enrollment data, regional tuition comparisons, and long-term financial projections. After evaluating comparable and neighboring districts, the District has made the decision to reduce enrollment to $3,600 for the 2026–2027 school year to strengthen enrollment and maintain competitiveness while sustaining program quality.
A one-month deposit of $360.00 is due beginning August 1, 2026. Monthly payments of $360.00 are due from September through May on the first Monday of each month.
There are no changes to the structure or quality of the program. Students will continue to receive a full day of instruction, Unified Arts including Art, Physical Education, and Music, enrichment opportunities, and the same academic expectations as the half-day program.
Milford’s tuition-free Half-Day Kindergarten option will remain available for families who prefer that pathway.
Any student already enrolled for the 2026–2027 school year may change their enrollment status from half-day to full-day as a result of this adjustment. An email has been sent to families currently in the enrollment process outlining the updated tuition rate and next steps.
Milford Schools will continue to review tuition and enrollment trends as part of responsible financial planning and long-term district stability. We look forward to welcoming the Milford Eagles Class of 2039.
