The Milford Board of Education met on Thursday, January 15, 2026, to celebrate student achievements, highlight district successes, and conduct regular district business.
Mulberry Highlights
The meeting opened with a special recognition of Mulberry Elementary student artists, whose work reflects global cultures and traditions as part of the school’s “Trails Around the World” theme. Six students across grades K–5 were honored for their artwork, with appreciation shared for art teacher Kat Winslow and Principal Sarah Greb for cultivating a strong culture of creativity.
Additional Principal Greb discussed building highlights including strong family engagement, improved attendance with with chronic absenteeism dropping from 11% last year to 6%, and the addition of the Milford Preschool to the building.
Arts & Activities Updates
Director of Fine Arts, Josh Kauffman came to the podium to discuss:
Celebration of 100 years of Milford Band with a performance at Cincinnati Music Hall.
Ticket sales for Water for Elephants, Milford High School’s upcoming spring musical
Announcement of the newly formed Milford Drama Boosters, providing additional support for the drama program
Student Achievement Recognition
Milford High School students were honored for earning the Ohio Governor’s Merit Scholarship, awarded to students in the top 5% of their graduating class statewide. This year:
22 Milford High School students and 1 Milford Academy student qualified
Students earned up to $20,000 toward Ohio colleges
Weighted GPAs ranged from 4.61 to 4.89 at the end of junior year
Mission Moment
The Board recognized Milford staff members who volunteered their weekend to support students at a Special Olympics swimming meet, celebrating their dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to student success beyond the school day.

Board Appreciation Month
In honor of National School Board Month, district leadership thanked board members for their service and leadership, including their role in opening Milford’s new middle school. Board members were presented with a student-captured photograph of the new building as a token of appreciation.
District Business & Operations
The Board approved:
Routine financial reports, vendor agreements, and donations
HVAC control system upgrades to maintain efficient building operations
The Treasurer provided a financial update showing the district in a stronger-than-projected position midway through the fiscal year.
Performance Audit Update
As part of the district’s commitment to transparency, administrators shared a progress update on the performance audit, focusing on health insurance recommendations. Leaders discussed:
Cost comparisons between insurance plans
Ongoing education for staff on high-deductible health plans
Continued collaboration with the district’s insurance consortium
