Milford Schools - Ohio School Report Card

Milford Exempted Village School District earned an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars on the latest Ohio School Report Card, reflecting the continued hard work of Milford students, staff and families.

Milford’s overall calculation increased from 3.75 last year to 3.91 this year, moving the district closer to the five-star benchmark of 4.125.

Of Ohio’s 607 school districts, 92 earned an overall rating of 4.5 stars and 61 earned five stars.

Understanding the Report Card

Ohio’s School Report Card evaluates districts in six areas: Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, Graduation, Early Literacy and College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness.

A three-star rating means a district meets state expectations. Four stars means it exceeds expectations, while five stars means it significantly exceeds expectations.

Achievement: 4 Stars

The Achievement Component measures how well students perform on Ohio’s State Tests in grades 3-8 and end-of-course exams at the high school level.

Milford earned a Performance Index score of 89%, resulting in a four-star rating. The district is just one percentage point away from the 90% threshold needed to earn five stars.

Progress: 4 Stars

The Progress Component measures how much academic growth students demonstrate from one year to the next.

Milford earned four stars, meaning students exceeded the academic growth expected by the state.

More detailed student growth data will be released later this fall

Gap Closing: 5 Stars

Milford earned five stars in Gap Closing, improving from four stars last year!

The Gap Closing Component examines the performance and growth of different groups of students, including students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged students, English learners and gifted students. It also considers chronic absenteeism and graduation goals.

The district earned an overall Gap Closing score of 61.2%, significantly exceeding state expectations.

Graduation: 5 Stars

Milford earned five stars in Graduation, maintaining its five-star rating from last year.

The Graduation Component combines a district’s four-year and five-year graduation rates into one weighted calculation. Milford earned a score of 97.4%, reflecting the district’s commitment to helping students remain on track and successfully earn their diplomas.

Early Literacy: 4 Stars

Milford earned four stars in Early Literacy, continuing to exceed state expectations.

The Early Literacy Component evaluates:

  • Third-grade reading proficiency

  • Literacy growth among struggling readers in kindergarten through third grade

  • Promotion to fourth grade

Milford earned an overall score of 75.1%. The district also achieved a 91% fourth-grade promotion rate under new, more restrictive state criteria.

College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness: 4 Stars

Milford improved from three stars to four stars in College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness, earning a score of 75.3%.

This component measures how well students are prepared for their next steps after graduation. Students can demonstrate readiness through opportunities such as Advanced Placement coursework, Industry-recognized credentials, Military enlistment, and more.
