MILFORD, OH – The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that Larry Hutzel, a longtime Milford resident and experienced educator and coach, will become the school’s new head boys varsity soccer coach, pending approval of the Milford Exempted Village School District Board of Education.
Hutzel brings eight years of experience on the Milford girls soccer coaching staff. He began as the Junior Varsity A coach in 2018 before serving as Assistant Varsity Coach under Jill Helms beginning in 2019. Over seven seasons on the varsity staff, Hutzel helped guide the program while building strong relationships with student-athletes and fellow coaches.
“I have been blessed to be part of Milford’s Girls Soccer staff for eight years,” Hutzel said. “Coaching alongside Coach Helms has been an incredible experience. While I am sad to step away from coaching the girls, I am very excited to coach boys again and to lead an entire program.”
In addition to his time at Milford, Hutzel has extensive club coaching experience, working with both boys and girls teams ranging from youth players to high school athletes. He previously served as head boys soccer coach at Loveland High School for six years, leading that program while continuing to build his reputation for player development and program leadership.
A graduate of Loveland High School, Hutzel went on to play collegiate soccer at Northern Kentucky University for four years. Off the field, he has devoted 31 years to education, serving as an English teacher at Loveland High School, where he once was a student.
“Milford is a soccer town. It has been for decades,” Hutzel added. “It is my good fortune to be blessed with the opportunity to lead this program. I intend to do that with pride, discipline, and honor. My goals for this program on the pitch are grandiose, but most importantly, I look forward to the relationships that our coaching staff will build with these young men.”
Milford Athletics looks forward to the continued growth of the boys soccer program under Hutzel’s leadership and the next chapter of success for Eagle soccer.
