Milford opened up a big halftime lead then turned back an attempted Little Miami comeback by scoring the final 20 points of the night, picking up a wild 55-26 win over the Panthers in Week 5 of the 2020 prep football campaign. The Eagles got a huge night from sophomore QB Austin Hardin who threw for 314 yards and five touchdowns. His favorite target was junior Chase Duesing who hauled in five balls for 160 yards and a pair of scores.

Hardin was hot early, throwing a first quarter TD to Noah Earley, a pair of second quarter scores to Vince Ringland and the first of two bombs to Duesing all before the half. When Sioni “Tofa” Luani barreled in from five yards out early in the third, Milford found themselves with a 35-8 lead.

Things took a turn in favor of the Panthers as QB Aidan Jones, despite being held to only six passing yards in the first half heated up in a big way. Jones led Little Miami to 18 straight points, but problems with extra points, still left the Panthers down by nine at 35-26 with most of the fourth quarter remaining.

But Milford wouldn’t be denied in the final stanza, first when Duesing got loose for a 44-yard catch and run from Hardin. Natwan Webster put the game out of reach with a five-yard TD run and Jacob Smith really put the icing on the cake with a 41-yard pick six interception return.

The Eagles will look to keep their momentum rolling next week when it travels to Anderson.
