THE SHORT STORY

Another night, another battle in ECC Boys Basketball action. This time, it was Milford prevailing as they held off Anderson 41-39 to salvage a season split with the Redskins. The game featured seven ties and 10 lead changes and wasn’t decided until the final buzzer. Milford took the final lead of the night with 1:06 to play when Grant Whitaker knocked down a pair of free throws, but the game was far from over.

In the last minute, Parker Davis split a pair of free throws to put the Eagles up 41-39. Anderson’s James Camden, a 76 percent free throw shooter, missed the front end of a one-and-one, but an offensive rebound gave the visitors another chance. Joey Cron went for the win with 12 seconds left with a three, but Jack Liles blocked the shot. Anderson stayed alive when the Eagles missed two free throws, but Camden’s game-tying field goal banged off the rim and out of bounds as the clock expired, handing the Eagles the win.
