On Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Milford Board of Education voted to initiate the termination process against former Athletic Director Aaron Zupka and to suspend him without pay pending the outcome of that process. The reasons for this action are formally outlined in the Board’s public meeting agenda and resolution.
This action followed an extensive review process. In addition to an internal investigation, the District initiated a third-party investigation in July 2025 after concerns involving potential misconduct were identified and determined to require further review. When findings from that investigation were presented to the Board, additional information emerged that led to Mr. Zupka being placed on paid administrative leave in November 2025.
Following Mr. Zupka’s departure from the District, Milford Schools continued its internal review. That continued investigation identified additional actions and misappropriations, which ultimately resulted in the Board’s decision to begin termination proceedings.
District sponsors, including Cullen Electric, were not aware of or intentionally involved in any wrongdoing related to this matter and bear no responsibility for the actions that led to this decision. Milford Schools sincerely appreciates the continued generosity of our community partners and their support of students and programs.
Milford Schools believes it is important to keep the school community informed as this process moves forward. The District takes all concerns seriously and is committed to conducting thorough and appropriate reviews while following established procedures.
During this interim period, the District is taking steps to ensure a smooth transition across all athletic programs. Coaching staff remain focused on supporting student-athletes, and all athletic activities will continue to operate as scheduled. The District fully supports its coaching staff and recognizes their commitment to making decisions in the best interest of student-athletes and the integrity of our programs. The District and Board of Education have also begun implementing additional oversight measures to ensure continuity, accountability, and stability moving forward.
Milford Schools appreciates the understanding and support of families, staff, and community members as this process continues. The District remains committed to transparency, accountability, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment for all students, while ensuring its programs continue to reflect the high standards of Milford Schools.
