COVID-19 CASE REPORTING

An order from the Ohio Governor's Office mandates required reporting of students testing positive for COVID. If your child is ill and they are exhibiting the symptoms of COVID, parents must report their child’s symptoms to us either by calling our hotline (513) 576-4150 or filling out a secure form (link below). If your child receives a positive COVID-19 test, you must report the results to us.

After reporting by phone or through the form, parents will receive a follow up phone call from the district within 24 hours.

The district is required to report the information to our local health department, and also report the positive COVID-19 case to parents. When we know of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case, we will send an email to all parents who have a student in that building. Additional communication will go to parents who have a student in the same classroom or ride the same bus.

Parents of students who may have been exposed to the confirmed positive COVID-19 case will receive a telephone call from the District and/or the Clermont County Health Department with instructions on how to quarantine. Students who are considered to be in close contact with a positive COVID-19 case are required to quarantine for at least 14 days. In order to return to school, a student who has a positive COVID-19 test result must have written clearance of release of quarantine by Clermont County Public Health.

If you hear of a case and you were not contacted by phone then you can safely assume the case was not in your child’s school or on your child’s bus and your child does not need to quarantine.

Each time there is a positive COVID-19 test we will not send an email district wide. Only parents who have children in the buildings where the positive COVID-19 case was reported will receive communication from us. We may or may not issue a press release or post on social media. However, updated information will be available on this website page.

Cumulative Positive COVID-19 Case Count

Here, we will list our cumulative positive COVID-19 cases:

  • From September 8 to 11: 6 additional cases - all students: 1 at the high school, 1 at Success Academy, 1 at the junior high, 2 at Pattison Elementary and 1 at Meadowview Elementary.

  • From August 31 to September 8: no additional cases.

  • From May to the the first day of school on August 31 = 7 total cases
    • 3 students, 1 high school staff member, 2 district coaches, 1 school building administrator

Steps the District will follow when a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19:

  1. Taking information from the COVID-19 Call Line (513-576-4150) or the COVID-19 Form, the Clermont County Public Health (CCPH) will be contacted when the district is made aware of a staff or student who has tested positive for COVID-19.

  2. A positive case will prompt an investigation. The school district will work with CCPH in contact tracing to identify close contacts of the case and possible exposure to COVID-19.

  3. A quarantine period of at least 10 days will be required of any student or staff who tests positive for COVID-19.

    • School employees are considered by the CDC to be Critical Infrastructure Essential Employees and therefore may not be required to quarantine if they have been exposed to a positive COVID-19 case, provided they are not symptomatic and they follow CDC guidance. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

    • If a staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they are required to quarantine for at least 10 days.

  4. CCPH will assist in developing an email for the district to use to communicate to parents and the letter will explain/define what is considered possible ‘exposure’ to the COVID-19 case and the possible need for quarantine.

    • The email will specify which classroom the confirmed case was in.

    • To protect personal health information, the district nor CCPH will disclose protected health information, including name, of the person with the positive COVID-19 test.

    • CCPH will provide guidance to the district on the appropriate course of action once the case investigation is complete and contract tracing has been identified.

    • Only those individuals who were in close contact with the COVID-19 case will be required to quarantine for 14 days. Close contact is defined as less than 6 feet for at a cumulative 15 minutes.
