Two Important Community Forums Announced for August

At the July Board Meeting, Superintendent John Spieser announced two important community engagement opportunities.
The first will be held on Thursday, August 4 at 6:00 p.m., and will focus on the Middle School Construction project. It will be a chance for the community to receive an update on progress to-date, ask questions, and share their thoughts.
The second forum will be a School Safety Update and Listening Session which will be held on Tuesday, August 9 at 6:00 p.m. We know parents, staff, and the community have questions in the wake of the passage of Ohio HB 99 earlier this summer and we are soliciting input about what, if any, adjustments Milford Schools might make to school safety going forward.
At the board meeting, Superintendent Spieser shared an overview of HB 99 as well as a reminder that Milford Schools has and will continue to take the safety of our students and staff seriously. Miami Township Police Chief Mike Mills also spoke at the board meeting and emphasized the long-lasting and strong relationship Milford Schools has with both Miami Township and Milford safety services.

Importantly, Milford Schools has not decided if or when it would make any changes to school security as a result of Ohio HB 99 being signed into law. At the upcoming Safety Update and Listening Session, parents, staff, and community members will have an opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts on this important topic.
A School Safety ThoughtExchange will also be launched on August 9 for those who are unable to attend the forum in person.
Both the August 4 Middle School Update and August 9 Safety Update and Listening Session will be held in person at the Board of Education Office at 1099 State Route 131, Milford, OH 45150. The events will also be live-streamed.
