Two Milford Principals to Switch Roles in 2015-16 School Year

Posted on: May 15, 2015

At the Milford School District Board of Education meeting on May 21, Milford Superintendent Dr. Robert Farrell will be recommending administrative changes for the 2015-16 school year. Mr. Rob Dunn, who is currently the elementary principal at Meadowview Elementary, will become the Milford Junior High School principal and Mrs. Kelli Ellison, principal of Milford Junior High School, will become principal of Meadowview Elementary.

Rob Dunn has spent 17 years of his career in education at Milford Schools and the last seven as principal of Meadowview. He also has experience at the junior high. After nine years as a classroom teacher, Mr. Dunn was an assistant principal at Milford Junior High School for one year before accepting the position as principal of Meadowview Elementary.

“I am looking forward to embracing the junior high academic environment as well as the opportunity to connect with students and staff through the available extra-curricular activities,” he shared. “I am excited to continue to foster the great atmosphere that has been established at MJHS!”

Mr. Dunn received his bachelor’s degree from Miami University, licensed kindergarten through eighth grade. He obtained his Master’s of Education, Principal’s License, and his Superintendent’s License from the University of Cincinnati. He is currently a doctoral student at Xavier University working towards his Doctorate in Leadership Studies.

Mr. Dunn has worked closely with incorporating technology into instruction, curriculum implementation and revisions, and establishing strong relationships with students, families, and staff. As a member of the Milford Miami Township Board of Directors, he knows the value of strong connections with the community. His son graduated from Milford High School in 2012.

“Rob’s knowledge of elementary education will be a great asset to the junior high and will be an asset to students transitioning from elementary school to the junior high setting. His prior experience at the junior high will make for a smooth transition,” Dr. Farrell said.

Mrs. Kelli Ellison, a Milford graduate and resident, has been principal at Milford Junior High School for the past eight years. She has spent 15 of her 16 years of education in Milford Schools. Prior to becoming principal of MJHS in 2007, she was a classroom teacher and coach (cross country, basketball, and track and field) and then began her administrative career as an assistant principal (2004-2007). Mrs. Ellison has been passionate about being an instructional leader and transforming instruction with the use of technology.

Mrs. Ellison earned her Master’s of Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati. In 2011, she completed the Executive Leadership Institute at the University of Cincinnati and went on to earn her Superintendent’s License. She currently serves on the district technology committee, secondary leadership team and is the district’s value-added leader. Mrs. Ellison also plans to attend the Midwest Leadership Summit this summer.

“I am excited about adding a new chapter of my career in education and broadening my experiences in working with the staff, students, and parents at Meadowview Elementary," Mrs. Ellison said. "As I begin my elementary experience, so will my oldest daughter who will become a first grader at Pattison Elementary. Go Eagles!”

“Just as Rob will be an asset to students transitioning to the junior high, Kelli has insights into what is expected at the junior high. She will work with Meadowview staff to ensure the elementary curriculum and instruction are preparing our students for the next level,” Dr. Farrell said.
