Top 25 Honored at Academic Signing Ceremony

Congratulations to our Top 25 Academic Achievers who were honored at the annual Academic Signing Ceremony held on April 29 at Milford High School. Scroll to the bottom of the page for a gallery of photos.

Anna Sangavai Anbalagan -(Undecided--Gap Year)

Anna will be taking a gap year to travel after graduating from Milford High School. At Milford, Anna was involved in volleyball, track and field, Clermont County Science Challenge, Science Olympiad, Cooking Club, Student Council, and National Honor Society.  Her community activities included being a Bethesda North Hospital Junior Volunteer, a UN Youth Delegate, and a Community Service Captain.  She took 12 AP classes, was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction, won the University of Kentucky Book Award, and has received multiple department honors.  Anna is the daughter of Nadarajah Anbalagan and Yogeswary Kandiah.

Morgan Ruth Barter-(University of Rochester)

Morgan has chosen the University of Rochester and will major in Anthropology with a minor in Spanish. She is accepting the Dean’s Scholarship from the University of Rochester but was also offered a scholarship from Eastern Kentucky University, where she was accepted. While at Milford, Morgan was involved in Key Club, Spanish Club, Photography Club, One World Many Cultures, and National Honor Society. In the community, Morgan volunteered at Ohio Valley Voices, Whiz Kids, Milford First United Church, Faces without Places, Matthew 25 Ministries, and attended the Mayerson Foundation Service Learning Camp in the summer of 2014.   Her academic achievements include taking 8 AP classes and scoring a 29 on the ACT. Morgan is the daughter of Mathew and Kellie Barter.

Jennifer Beth Brewer-(University of Cincinnati)

Having been accepted to the University of Cincinnati, the University of Dayton, and Miami University, Jennifer has chosen to attend the University of Cincinnati where she will major in Electrical Engineering. Jennifer accepted the Cincinnatus Century Scholarship and the Engineering and Applied Sciences Freshman Scholastic Award and was also offered the Miami University Merit Scholarship the University of Dayton Trustees Merit Scholarship. Here at Milford, Jennifer was in the marching band, winter guard, German Club, and National Honor Society.  In the community, she participated in the Clermont Festival Choir and volunteered at Child Focus and Matthew 25 Ministries. Her academic achievements include taking 7 AP classes, scoring a 31 on the ACT, participating in the Clermont County Science Challenge, and winning multiple departmental awards.. Jennifer is the daughter of Anthony and Mary Beth Brewer.

Shannon Margaret Armour Brueck-(Wittenberg University)

Shannon has decided to attend Wittenberg University where she will study Biology and Pre-Medicine. Shannon has accepted the Wittenberg Provost Scholarship as well as the Wittenberg Alumni Scholarship. At Milford, Shannon was a member of the National Honor Society, Teen Counseling, The Milford Writing Center, and Milford Varsity soccer team. She also achieved a 30 on the ACT and has taken 8 AP classes.  In the community, Shannon has been involved with CSA Soccer and tutoring children.  Shannon is the daughter of Scott and Jennifer Brueck.

Taylor Marie Chamberlin-(The Ohio State University)

While Taylor has been accepted to and received scholarships from Georgetown College, Centre College, Xavier University, The Ohio State University, Butler University, the University of Kentucky, the University of Tennessee, Ohio University, Miami University, she will attend The Ohio State University and is will study nursing. Taylor has accepted The Ohio State Provost Scholarship.   At Milford, Taylor was involved in Teen Counseling, The Milford Writing Center, Key Club, and National Honor Society.  She has taken 7 AP classes, was named an AP Scholar with Distinction, and scored a 31 on the ACT.  Taylor is the daughter of Marty and Jennifer Chamberlin.

Justin Ronald Clark-(The Ohio State University)

Justin will attend The Ohio State University where he will major in Aeronautical Engineering, Physics, and German. He was also accepted to the University of Cincinnati and Purdue and is currently waitlisted at MIT. He was offered The Ohio State Maximums Scholarship. Justin has been a part of the German Foreign Exchange Program, Battlebots, One World Many Cultures, and Key Club. He scored a 33 on the ACT and has won multiple departmental awards. Justin is the son of Raymond and Laurie Clark.

Sydney Alysse Connor-(Ohio University)

Sydney has chosen Ohio University and will major in Child and Family Studies with a focus on Child Life.  She was also accepted to Northern Kentucky University, the University of Cincinnati, Gannon University, and Wilmington College.  Sydney was offered scholarships from Northern Kentucky University, Gannon University, Wilmington College, and the University of Cincinnati but will accept a scholarship from Ohio University.   While in Milford, Sydney was involved in Milford Water Polo, Milford Swimming, and National Honor Society.  In the community she has volunteered at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital, Whiz Kids, and has tutored elementary school students.   Sydney scored a 30 on the ACT and took 7 AP classes.  Sydney is the daughter of Rick and Pam Connor.

Jacob Gerald Dobrowolski-(Miami University)

Jacob will study Neuroscience/Biology and Business at Miami.  He was also accepted to The Ohio State University, Oberlin College, Wittenberg University, Ohio Northern University, Centre College, The College of Wooster, Ohio University, Dennison, Earlham College, Xavier University, and the University of Dayton.  Jacob was involved in National Honor Society, Key Club, Science Olympiad, Buckeye Boys State, and baseball. His community involvement included volunteering with 1st graders at Mulberry Elementary and having a neighborhood paper route.  Jacob earned a 33 on the ACT, took 9 AP classes, and was recognized as an National Merit Commended Student. Jacob is the son of  Tony and Laurie Dobrowolski.

Amanda Hope Dominique-(The Ohio State University)

While Amanda was accepted to Tulane University, Belmont University, The University of North Carolina Charlotte, and Wittenberg, she will attend The Ohio State University and will major in International Studies and Foreign Language.   Amanda will accept the Maximus Scholarship. She was also offered the Merit Scholarship at Belmont University, the Wittenberg University Scholarship, the Premier Scholar Award from Tulane. Amanda was involved in National Honor Society, Key Club, Photography Club, Student Council, Varsity soccer, was a Community Service Captain. She also enjoyed playing soccer for Cincinnati Soccer Alliance. She achieved a score of 32 on the ACT, took 7 AP classes and was recognized as an National Merit Commended Student and was named an AP Scholar.  Amanda has also won multiple departmental awards. Amanda is the daughter of Brad and Laura Dominique.

Savannah Lynn Gulick-(University of Cincinnati)

Savannah will attend The University of Cincinnati where she will be a Pre-Med major with a minor in Spanish. She was also accepted to Indiana University and the University of Dayton where she was offered scholarships. At Milford, Savannah was involved with lacrosse, basketball, One World Many Cultures, Spanish Club, Photography Club, Cooking Club, the Milford Writing Center, and Student Council.  She was also in National Honor Society. In the community, Savannah has volunteered at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, the Newport Aquarium, the League for Animal Welfare, Matthew 25 Ministries, LLS, and the Cincinnati Holiday Bike Drive.  She received a 33 on the ACT, took 9 AP classes, and was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction.  Savannah is the daughter of  and Richard and Carol Gulick.

Anna Guo-(The Ohio State University)

Anna will study political science and finance at The Ohio State University where she is accepting a scholarship. She was also accepted to and offered a scholarship from New York University At Milford, Anna was involved in One World, Many Cultures, French Club and National Honor Society, and she took 11 AP classes. During high school, she volunteered at the Clermont County Library. Anna is the daughter of Zen Ton Guo and Gee Ying Guo.

Andrew Richard Hall-(The Ohio State University)

Andy will attend The Ohio State University, from which he was offered a scholarship, and will study Chemical Engineering.  He was also accepted to Virginia Tech University, Purdue University, Rose Hulman, Ohio University, and Case Western University.  Andy was offered a scholarship from Ohio University, Rose Hulman, and Case Western University.  Andy was involved in the Academic Team, National Honor Society, and Ski Club.  In the community, Andy was involved with the Boy Scouts and the Cincinnati Museum Center Youth Programs.  Andy scored a 34 on his ACT, has taken 7 AP classes, and was recognized as both an AP Scholar and a National Merit Finalist. Andrew is the son of  Jeff and Nancy Smith-Hall.

Jillian Barbara Harrington-(The Ohio State University)

Jillian will study Biology and Pre-Medicine this fall at The Ohio State University, from which she has received the Maximus Scholarship. Jillian was also accepted to and offered scholarships from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, The College of Charleston, and Auburn University. At Milford, she was involved in Student Council, the Milford High School Tennis team, National Honor Society, and One World Many Cultures.  Jillian is a Community Service Captain and has achieved the Bronze Level of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for completing over 100 hours of community service. Jillian is the daughter of Greg and Ann Harrington.

Steven Douglas Hart-(Cedarville University)

Steven will double major in Accounting and Finance and minor in music and biblical studies at Cedarville University where he is receiving the President’s Scholar Award. Max was involved in marching band and jazz band. He was involved in Academic Team and the Make a Difference Club and was also active in his church youth group and volunteering at Hospice of Cincinnati. Steven was a Buckeye Boys State delegate and was selected for the OMEA All-State Orchestra. He is a National Merit Scholar Finalist, has taken 7 AP classes and 7 post-secondary classes, received a 34 on the ACT and a 2300 on the SAT. Steven is the son of Doug and Joy Hart.

 Jamie Elise Kuhn-(Northwestern University)

Jamie will attend Northwestern University to study Theater.  She was also accepted to The Ohio State University, Brandeis University, the University of Evansville, and  Kenyon College. Jamie has received scholarship offers from The Ohio State University, the University of Evansville, Kenyon College, and Brandeis University.  She has been a member of Milford Drama for four years--serving as Recording Secretary this year, Academic Quiz Team, and French Club.  Jamie was a Co-Founder of One World, Many Cultures and has run the program singlehandedly this year.  She took 13 AP classes and scored a 35 on the ACT.  Jamie was recognized as a National Merit Commended Student and an AP Scholar with Distinction. She also participated in the Acting Certificate Program and was a Team Captain for Relay for Life. Jamie is the daughter of Curt and Kelly Kuhn.

Chelsea Noel Nagy-(North Carolina State University)

Chelsea plans to attend North Carolina State University where she has accepted a scholarship and will double major in Industrial Engineering and Psychology. Chelsea was also accepted to The Ohio State University and at Georgia Tech, and Clemson University, where she was offered scholarships. At Milford, Chelsea was involved in varsity golf, student council, Key Club, One World Many Cultures, Children for Change and National Honors Society. For her senior capstone project, Chelsea completed a mentorship with 3M. Chelsea is the daughter of Mark Nagy and Debby Curl-Nagy.

Samantha Plante-(Miami University)

Samantha will accept a scholarship to attend Miami University to study biology as pre-med. She has also been accepted to and has been offered scholarships from Butler University, Denison University, Ohio University and the University of Charleston. In high school, Samantha was involved in Clermont County 4H and worked as a waitress. She achieved a 31 on the ACT and took 6 AP classes. Samantha is the daughter of Larry and Brenda Plante.

Darci Jane Ponchot-(Northern Kentucky University)

Darci will attend Northern Kentucky University and has accepted a scholarship. She was also accepted to and offered a scholarship from Miami University. In high school, Darci was involved on the Academic Team, in National Honor Society, French and German Club. She took 10 AP classes and achieved a 33 on the ACT. Darci is the daughter of Shaun and Jane Ponchot.

Andrew James Reinhart-(The United States Naval Academy)

Andrew will enter the United States Naval Academy where he will major in nuclear engineering. He was also accepted to Purdue University, The Ohio State University, Virginia Tech, Boston University, and Arizona State University, where he was offered scholarships. At Milford, he was involved in wrestling, cross-country, and JROTC.  Andrew also volunteered at the Cincinnati Nature Center. Andrew received a 34 on the ACT, took 11 AP classes, is a National Merit Finalist and achieved the Gold Medal of Scholastic Achievement from the American Legion. Andrew is the son of Andre and Donna Reinhart.

Billie Jo Richardson-(The University of Cincinnati--College Conservatory of Music)

Billie has decided to major in Music Education at the University of Cincinnati in the College Conservatory of Music where she has accepted the Cincinnatus Merit Scholarship and the CCM Talent Honors. She was also accepted to Ohio University and the University of Louisville where she was offered scholarships. At Milford, she was involved in symphonic band, pep band, jazz band, marching band, National Honor Society and French Club. In the community, she has been involved in the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, the CCM Preparatory Department Brass Choir Ensemble, District XIV Honor Band, the Southwest Region Orchestra, and the Ohio Ambassadors of Music. She took 4 AP classes, and 1 year of postsecondary finishing 48 credit hours. Billie is the daughter of William and JoMarie Richardson.

Taylor Lynn Roof-(Miami University)

Taylor will accept a scholarship to attend Miami University where she plans to double  major in kinesiology and dietetics. Taylor was also accepted to and was offered scholarships from University of Dayton, University of Tennessee, and Syracuse University. In high school, Taylor was involved in cross country, basketball, track and field, Key Club, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a Community Service Captain. She took 7 AP classes and received all eight all-conference academic awards. Taylor is the daughter of Carl and Suzette Roof.

Zachary Thomas Schnelle-(Ohio University)

While he is still undecided as to what he will study, Zachary will attend Ohio University where he has accepted the Ohio Distinction Scholarship.  He was also accepted to Washington University, Indiana University, Kent State University, the University of Dayton, the University of Tennessee, Wooster College, Miami University, Eastern Michigan University, Wittenberg University and Bellarmine University, most all of which offered him scholarships. While at Milford, Zachary was involved in varsity football, club lacrosse, Key Club, One World Many Cultures, the German Exchange Program and National Honor Society. He received academic stars all four years of high school, along with the German award his junior year, earned a 34 on his ACT, and took 5 AP classes along with the AP German exam. Zachary is the son of Tom and Kristin Riegel.

Whitney Ann Schroeder-(Clemson University)

Whitney will attend Clemson University where she is accepting a scholarship. She will major in engineering. She was also accepted to and has been offered scholarships to The Ohio State University and the University of Kentucky. In high school, Whitney was involved in lacrosse, National Honor Society and teen counseling and she volunteered at Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship. Whitney took 7 AP classes and was named an AP scholar her junior year. Whitney is the daughter of Mike and Amy Schroeder.

Kelly Mackenzie Shaffner-( University of Miami--Florida)

Kelly has accepted the President’s Scholarship at the University of Miami in Florida and will study biomolecular engineering. She was also accepted to the Ohio University, the University of Colorado in Boulder, The Ohio State University, the University of South Florida, and UCLA.  Kelly was offered scholarships from Ohio University, the University of South Florida, the University of Colorado in Boulder and The Ohio State University. At Milford, Kelly was involved with varsity tennis, the swim team, water polo, ski club and National Honor Society. She took 7 AP classes, 10 honors-level classes and four years of Spanish, earning a 4.4 grade point average. Additionally, Kelly earned a 30 on the ACT. Kelly is the daughter of Cathy and Curt Shaffner.

Mackenzie Kathleen Strong-(Samford University)

While Mackenzie was accepted to and offered scholarships from the University of Mississippi, the University of Alabama, and Miami University, she will attend Samford University, where she accepted the University Fellows Scholarship along with a scholarship for a study-abroad term in Italy. While at Milford, Mackenzie was a Community Service Captain, attended the Mayerson Student Service Leadership workshop and the Anthony Munoz Foundation Leadership Conference. She was involved in Key Club, National Honor Society, women’s soccer and basketball and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Mackenzie served the community through Operation Give Back, Go Cincinnati, Matthew 25 Ministries, the Fighting Hunger 5K, City Gospel Mission, Madisonville Streetfest and through Montgomery Community Church. Academically, she has been named an AP Scholar with Distinction and earned a 33 on the ACT. Mackenzie is the daughter of Darcy and Cynthia Strong.
