Seeking Community Input for Superintendent Search

Posted on: March 30, 2016

Milford Exempted Village Schools is asking for community input in their search for the district’s next superintendent. The vacancy is the result of the retirement of Dr. Robert B. Farrell, who has served as superintendent since 2007. Steve Horton, Board Services Consultant for the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA), will be gathering input from staff, local business leaders and community members the week of April 18.

A focus group is planned for community members on Tuesday, April 19, from 6-7 p.m. in the Board Conference Room at 777 Garfield Avenue, Milford.

The focus group will last for one hour, during which Horton will review the hiring process and ask for input on the following three topics:
-Major issues facing the district for the next three to five years.
-Performance, personal and professional expectations for the next superintendent.
-Unique qualities of the community and school district.

Steve Horton will provide the board of education with a detailed report of the meetings held, which will help the board develop a more detailed profile of the ideal candidate, enhance their understanding of perceived future challenges and opportunities, and assist them in setting specific criteria for the screening, selection and evaluation of candidates.

The Milford Exempted Village Schools Board expects to have a permanent superintendent appointed by August 1, 2016.

Please RSVP by Friday, April 15, if you wish to attend the community focus group to MEVSD Treasurer, Debbie Caudle, caudle_d@milfordschools.org.
