At the Board meeting on May 19, the Milford Board of Education announced the selection of Nancy C. House as the next Superintendent of the Milford Exempted Village School District.  Mrs. House currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the district. She has served in this capacity for the past year, and has worked in the district for the past 23 years.

”I am honored and humbled to have been selected as Milford’s next superintendent and look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence in our schools that has been accomplished through open communication, a strong leadership team led by Dr. Farrell, and a commitment to a positive school and community partnership.  I look forward to exploring innovative ways we can work together to take student achievement to new heights,” Mrs. House said.

Prior to becoming Assistant Superintendent, Mrs. House was the Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction for Milford Schools from 2010-2016.  She was responsible for the instructional leadership development, including professional training, for grades 7-12 principals and teachers. In addition to her experience in both personnel and curriculum, Mrs. House served as the Principal and Assistant Principal at Milford High School.  She also taught English at Milford high School for 15 years (1993-2008), and was the English Department Chair for seven of those years.

Before starting her career in Milford Schools in 1993, Mrs. House was a high school English teacher in Goshen Schools for six years and in Toledo City Schools for four years.

Mrs. House is a doctoral candidate in Leadership Studies at Xavier University.  She expects to earn her doctorate in May 2017. She has her Superintendent License from Xavier and her Master of Education from Miami University. Her Bachelor of Science in English Education is from Miami University.

Mrs. House is married to former Ninth Grade Community Associate Principal, Ernie House, who retired from Milford Schools in 2015. They live in Milford with their two daughters.

The Board has not yet approved a contract for Mrs. House. Her anticipated start date is August 1, 2016. Dr. Robert Farrell, current Superintendent, will be assisting with the transition until his retirement in December. After August 1, Dr. Farrell and Milford’s central office team will assume the duties of the human resources department until a replacement is hired.
