In a recent presentation about plan options for reopening, representatives of Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) erroneously reported that decisions were made in Clermont County. No decisions have been made yet about reopening schools in Clermont County. No announcements have been made.

Clermont County Superintendents are in the process of working collaboratively with one another and with the county's health department to develop general guidelines for development of consistent plans for reopening. Ultimately, specific plans for reopening will be completed by each individual district. Announcement of those plans will occur when plans are complete and will be made by the individual districts. While we cannot account for the inaccurate information presented by CPS officials, we do apologize for any confusion it may have caused parents and community members in Milford Schools and across Clermont County.

What has been decided to date:

NEW START DATE: Due to the need to build in additional inservice days for staff training, the start of our school year will be delayed by three days. Instead of beginning on Wednesday, August 19, the first day of school for the 2020-2021 school year will be Monday,  August 24. Teacher inservice and workdays will be Friday, August 14 and August 17-21. The rest of the school year calendar has not changed. Click here to download the new calendar.

For more details please refer to this story published June 17 concerning our planning process for reopening Milford schools.

NEW START AND DISMISSAL TIMES: We are adjusting the start times for our junior high and high school, which also adjusts the times for our elementary buildings. The junior high and high school buildings will begin at 7:45 a.m. - a 30 minute later start time, and they will dismiss at 2:30 p.m. - a 25 minute later dismissal time. After working with a transportation consultant to look at routing our buses, it was determined that we could only start the junior high and high school later if the gap between those routes and the elementary routes remained. To maintain the cost-efficiency of a three-tier busing system, the elementary times had to be adjusted as well. Our elementary buildings have had three staggered start times, and that will continue with this new schedule to ensure efficiency. Please click here for more information behind this change and to see the chart of start and dismissal times.
