On November 25th, Keenan West visited MJHS.  This is the second year we welcomed Keenan to share his powerful message.  Keenan is a youth motivational speaker and vocalist from Cincinnati, Ohio, who started singing in church at the age of nine. While attending The University of Cincinnati, he coached basketball at his alma mater Northwest High School. West then switched his focus to a career in music.

This school year, Keenan partnered with Secret Deodorants Mean Stinks anti-bullying program to bring an end to bullying and mean behavior. With their support, Keenan will bring the Secret Mean Stinks Nicest. Tour. Ever. assemblies to over 100 schools across the country during the 14/15 school year. The anti-bullying performance is 60 minutes long and combines pop-culture inspired videos, (“Never Ever” Bully Prevention Music Video) music, and dance with Secret Mean Stinks’ and The Cincinnati Children’s Hospital’s proven anti-bullying curriculum. This powerful and thought-provoking motivational message engages students and helps them take ownership of bringing an end to bullying at their school and among their friends. As a recording artist, West wanted his voice to be heard to not only to raise awareness of the issue of bullying, but also to highlight and celebrate the kids that have taken it on themselves and found the courage to stand up against mean behavior. Following a Secret Mean Stinks Nicest. Tour. Ever. assembly, students will not only walk away with tangible ways to combat bullying, but also a new found sense of unity amongst their peers.
