Second grade students at Meadowview Elementary worked together this week to lend a helping hand to a local business that recently suffered damage.

A gas leak is being blamed for a recent early morning explosion at Pop’s Donuts in Day Heights. The explosion blew out the front window of the business, and injured the shop’s owner Chuck Holtman. The storefront is currently boarded up with plywood.

While the shop is waiting for its new front glass, Meadowview students thought it would be great to cover all of that plywood with some supportive messages for Pop’s and for Holtman. Students wrote letters to Holtman and drew pictures of their favorite donuts.

Second grade teacher Kari Born said, “They did such a great job so we wanted to share! The students are super excited to help brighten Pop's day and can't wait for them to open up again soon!”
