A Dog's Day Fundraiser to Benefit Autism Unit Service Dog

To raise funds needed for Milford High School's Autism Assistance Service Dog, a pet and family-friendly fundraiser will be held in August. “A Dog’s Day in August” will be held at Miami Meadows Park on Saturday, August 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A 5K owner/dog walk will take place at 10 a.m. in the park.
Last school year, Trena Panko, Intervention Specialist at Milford High School’s Autism Unit, held several fundraisers to get an Autism Assistance Service Dog for the MHS Autism Unit. Mrs. Panko’s class raised $15,000 for 4 Paws for Ability for the service dog, but additional funds are needed to pay for the dog’s care, as well as, travel costs for Milford staff and students to attend a required 14-day training session at 4 Paws for Ability in Xenia in February 2018.
“We plan to provide a venue for people to experience an array of goods, services, and animal education opportunities available to the community,” said Mrs. Panko. “The day will be a family-friendly and pet-friendly environment.”
“A Dog’s Day in August” will include:
- 5k Owner/Dog Walk
- Food
- Music
- Baskets for raffle- area businesses are invited to create a basket to raffle.
- Bounce House
- Dunk Tank
- T-shirt Sales
- Games
