  • The Milford Board of Education is considering placing a bond issue on the ballot for the November 2, 2021 election to build a new 6-8 middle school.

  • WORK SESSION - The Board of Education will hold a Work Session on Wednesday, June 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Administration Offices, 1099 State Route 131, Milford. The meeting will be live streamed via ICRC (link to come soon) and a recording will be available to view online when the meeting concludes. Community members are invited to this Q&A Session with the Board members to ask questions and provide comment about the proposed facilities plan and potential bond issue.



SUMMER TIMELINE

In order to begin the process of potentially placing a bond issue on the ballot for November, in June and July the Board of Education will need to vote on a number of procedural resolutions. These resolutions do not commit the Board to running the bond issue in November, and can be rescinded at any time before the Clermont County Board of Elections deadline of August 4. 

  • May 13, 2021 - At their regularly scheduled monthly meeting May 13, the Board passed a resolution to approve participation in the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission’s (OFCC) Notice of Conditional Approval (NOCA) program - which, if approved by the state, provides co-funding for the district’s proposed construction project.

  • June 16, 2021 - 6 to 8 p.m. - The Board of Education will host a Work Session to discuss the potential bond issue. The public is encouraged to attend this Q&A session with the Board members. The meeting will be broadcast live on ICRC and a recording will be available to view online after it concludes.

  • June 17, 2021 - Regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting at 6:00 p.m. The Board Members will discuss the potential bond issue further. The meeting will be broadcast live on ICRC and a recording will be available to view online after it concludes. The Board will consider approving an estimated bond issue amount, which would then be sent to the State Department of Taxation and the Ohio Department of Education for approval.

  • June 25, 2021 - Noon - Facebook Live with the Superintendent - the Community is welcome to submit questions prior to the Live event or ask questions during the live event. More details will be available soon.

  • July 8, 2021 - The OFCC will meet for consideration of the Determination of Conditional Approval. If the Resolution of Conditional Approval is approved, then it is submitted to the OFCC Controlling Board for consideration at their next meeting, most likely to take place the week of July 26.

  • On either July 8 or 9, the Milford Board of Education Board will plan to hold a special meeting. The meeting date and time will be advertised. At this special meeting, the Board will further discuss the potential bond issue and consider approving procedural resolutions pertaining to information about the bond issue. The Board will determine the exact dollar amount and length of the bond issue, which will then be filed with the County Auditor for certification and determination of a millage amount. These resolutions do not commit the Board to placing the bond issue on the ballot for November 2, but they need to be approved ahead of time to meet the State’s filing deadline of July 27. The resolutions can be rescinded at any time prior August 4.

  • July 15 - Regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be broadcast live on ICRC and a recording will be available to view after it concludes.

  • Week of July 26 - The Board of Education will hear back from the OFCC if the funding has been approved. If it is approved, the Board of Education has 13 months to pass a bond issue to pay for the local portion of the construction project.

  • Between July 26 and August 4 - the Board of Education will plan to hold a special session to vote to approve placing a bond issue on the November ballot. They will be approving the ballot language and millage amount that will then be certified by the Clermont County Auditor for the November 2 election. The meeting date and time will be advertised.

  • August 4 - Board of Elections deadline for ballot language for the November 2 election.

  • November 2 - Election Day
