Board Member Profile - Chris Hamm

Chris Hamm is serving his first term on the Board. He began serving in January 2018 and his current term ends December 31, 2021. He serves as President of the Board this year.

Mr. Hamm owns a business in Miami Township and has lived in the school district for 17 years.  He and his wife have three children, Brayden, Grace,  and Olivia. They all attend Milford Schools.

“We really enjoy the ‘hometown’ feel of the Milford area,” he said. “Before we moved to Milford, we were impressed by the number of local volunteer groups and neighbors helping neighbors to make the community stronger.”

Milford is a district that really cares about its students, parents, teachers, administrators, and the community, he said. “While providing all of the amenities and opportunities of a larger school, the experience is very much of a smaller school,” he said. “As a larger public school district, Milford has made great strides in personalizing education to meet individual student needs.”

Mr. Hamm is a part of many community boards and organizations: he has served on on the boards of the Milford Miami Township Chamber of Commerce, the Clermont County Library, the Clermont County Port Authority, the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Historic Milford Association, and the Greater Milford Area Historical Society. He joined the School Board after being involved as the Chair of the Business Advisory Council, President of the Milford Miami Township Chamber, and as a parent of three students in the district. “I had participated in many community groups and wanted to be a part of the forward momentum of our district,” he said.

His goals as a Board member follow his original “Eagle” vision when he campaigned for his seat in 2017: Efficiency - continue to find ways to get value for our dollars and follow budget; Academics - support student, teachers and administrators and give them the tools for success; Growth and innovation - find new ways to build and communicate, support innovative teaching and learning; Life readiness - continue to support "Portrait of an Eagle" and preparing our students for their next step; and Experience - safety, security, and comfortable learning environment should always be priorities. He adds, “We need a new Middle School!”

His family is busy with the kids’ involvement in band, choir, drama, soccer,  swimming, basketball, and volleyball, but when the do get time away they enjoy traveling to national parks, hiking, kayaking, and spending time on the lake.
