Community Advisory Team Overview

The first meeting of the Milford School District's Community Advisory Team (CAT) was held on June 27, 2019. The team's goal is to develop a consensus facility master plan to present to the Milford Board of Education in the fall.

In this first meeting, Milford Superintendent Nancy House gave a presentation on the district's history with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC), reviewed the status and condition of the district's current buildings, and the aspirations and vision the district has for preparing our students for their future.

Community Advisory Team Background

At the Board of Education work session on June 20, 2019, Superintendent Nancy House updated the board on the Community Advisory Team (CAT) process. The CAT's objective is to develop and present a consensus proposal on the district's Master Facilities Plan.

The district received 97 requests from individuals interested in participating in the CAT. After reviewing these requests, the district extended 66 invitations.

The district followed three rules in determining who was eligible to participate:
1. Participants must live in the Milford School District.
2. A limit of one participant per family.
3. A limit on the number of district-employed participants.

In some cases, invitations were not offered because there was simply an abundance of applicants in that particular demographic group. Nearly all invited applicants fit into multiple categories.

The invited applicants include the following:
31-Parents of Milford students
12-Parents of Milford graduates
5-Empty nesters
9-Retirees
5-Business owners
5-MEVSD staff members
8-Members of "Vote No to Milford School Bond"
8-Known supporters of the May Bond

The CAT will meet six times over the coming months with the first meeting set for June 27. The remaining dates are still being scheduled in order to maximize attendance among the participants.

There will also be two public feedback sessions. The first public forum will be after the CAT's third meeting. The second forum will be after the CAT's fifth meeting. At these forums, the community will receive an update on the CAT's progress and have the opportunity to provide input and feedback. Those dates and times will be provided after the CAT schedule is finalized.

All CAT sessions will be recorded and posted online for community members to watch. Two board members will attend CAT meetings, but will only be there to listen and will not provide input. Below is a list of individuals who received invitations to participate in the CAT.
