Milford Junior High School teacher, Julie Davalla, received a 2013 Education Award from the Schools of Education of Northern Kentucky University, the University of Cincinnati, and Xavier University in partnership with the Cincinnatus Association. Davalla, a Special Education Teacher, was named a “3-C Outstanding Cincinnati USA Teacher.” The award was presented at a program held on February 12, at the Kingsgate Marriott, University of Cincinnati.
Davalla works with special needs students with multiple disabilities at the junior high. Students spend much of their day in her classroom receiving the individual attention they need to succeed according to their ability. She has taught in Milford for eight years and worked at Pattison before coming to the junior high last year.
Jennie Berkley, Milford’s Director of Special Education, nominated Davalla and said, “Every parent I contacted for input responded with heartfelt appreciation for the remarkable care and constant communication that she provides for them and their special children.”
Milford Junior High School Principal, Kelli Ellison added, “I am proud of Julie and excited for her accomplishment. Julie is deserving of the award and is one of the most compassionate and dedicated teachers I know. MJHS is fortunate to have Julie as a teacher!”
