Seipelt Elementary is named for Charles L. Seipelt who was the longtime principal of the school until the mid 1990's. The school dates back to the 1962 when it opened originally as Pleasant Hill Elementary. It is in need of replacement and is part of the district's Master Plan for school construction. The district is partnering with the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC) to complete the Master Plan. The OSFC reviewed Seipelt and determined that it would cost too much to renovate and update the existing building. The recommendation was to replace Seipelt with a brand new building. The district has agreed to the site location for the future replacement of the school. The new site is located on St. Rt. 131 next to the Greycliffs subdivision which is under construction now. The replacement of Seipelt is dependent upon the community's approval of a future bond issue. The Milford Board of Education is not looking to place a bond issue on the ballot until 2010 at the earliest.
Despite being in an older building, students at the school benefit from the caring and nurturing environment provided by the talented staff. Everyone is dedicated to the same goal of offering a quality education that support students to be successful and meet or surpass the academic benchmarks. Seipelt also features a dedicated parent support group which helps to financially support numerous academic programs and teacher activities.
