Milford's Preschool/Extended Day Center expanded in the 2004-2005 school year to become a four-program school.
The first program is the public preschool program. This program will provide 2 1/2 hours of preschool, which parents pay tuition for participation. The curriculum for this program is based on the Ohio Department of Education's Early Childhood Content Standards.
The second program at the center is the Extended Day program. This program provides before and after school childcare for preschool and kindergarten students. Contact the Extended Day program for details, 831-9690.
The third program is the Milford Special Education Preschool program. This program is required by law and there is no charge for students identified as special needs preschoolers. The focus of this program is meeting the educational goals of children identified as preschoolers with special needs. In this program we include 4 preschoolers that are typically developing as role models for the special needs children. The typically developing children must pay tuition to participate in this program. The tuition is at a reduced rate since they receive only four days of preschool.
The fourth program is Head Start. Head Start is a federally funded preschool that targets at-risk children. Contact Clermont County Head Start for more information at 513-528-7224.
Research shows that early exposure to the basics of reading helps a child to become a better learner. Reading is the foundation for all learning and the sooner children are exposed to an early childhood education, the better prepared they will be for all grades of school. The Milford Preschool program follows the Ohio Department of Education guidelines for early childhood education which prepares students for kindergarten.
